Join us for a Sunday Morning Worship Gathering - 8:30am or 11:00am
(both gatherings experience blended worship & the same message)
If you attended one of our worship gatherings recently and felt God speaking to your heart, you need to tell someone! In addition to talking with someone from our church, we encourage you to email our pastor at notafan@salemfirstfriends.org and share your story with him. Join a community of people moving from fans of Christianity to followers of Christ!
Current Sermon Series:
“A Faith Worth Choosing”
The call of Jesus involves a word that can make us uncomfortable today. We are not only called to be followers of Jesus, but also his slaves. Often this word is translated as “servant,” but it indeed means someone who has given up all claims to his/her own life, and allowed a Lord to rule over their every act, thought, and decision.
It is this type of faith that we want to explore together. What does it mean to be a “slave” to Jesus as our Lord? How can we move beyond Jesus being our Savior and begin to embrace Him as our Master? How did Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross show us the attitude of a servant? All these questions and more will be discussed as we gather together on Sunday mornings to pursue A Faith Worth Choosing.
Youth Mission Trip - Jamaica 2009
This summer, 15 students and 4 adults from our church will travel to Jamaica for a week-long mission experience. Jamaica is a beautiful, but poor island. Many of the citizens live in poverty and lack the basic needs of life (food, clean water, access to basic health care, proper shelter from the weather). While our team is there, we hope to meet some of the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the people in and around Montego Bay. Among other things, we will be providing a VBS for a local Jamaican Friends church. Please pray for this trip and our team members. If you are interested in supporting us financially, please call the church office to find out how.
MegaSports & SunRock VBS - Register Now!!!
It is time again to start thinking about our summer children’s ministries. This year we will continue to offer a high-quality sports camp for kids in grades 1-6. Children will choose one of four sports (basketball, soccer, volleyball, and cheerleading) at the start of the week and be trained by qualified coaches in those areas. In addition, there are devotional times led by our coaches, and large group meetings led by our staff. For any kids not interested in those four sports, we are adding additional activities this year (card making, drama, and cooking). There really is something for every child!
Younger kids (ages 2-5 and kindergarten) will experience SonRock Kid’s Camp. This is a camp-themed program that will encourage children to build their lives on the one true rock: Jesus!
Both events will run simultaneously Monday - Thursday during the week of July 13-16. Volunteers are still needed! Call the church today!
